About West Bromwich

West Bromwich is a market town in the borough of Sandwell in England’s West Midlands. It is located 10.3 kilometers (6.9 miles) to the north-west of Birmingham and was originally a part of the county of Staffordshire. When considering geography, culture, and language, West Bromwich is included in what is called the Black Country. According to the 2011 Census, there were 77,997 people living in West Bromwich.

West Bromwich was a small farming community before the Industrial Revolution transformed it into a bustling manufacturing hub thanks to the abundance of resources like ironstone and coal in the surrounding landscape and the accessibility of nearby canals and railways.

As a result, the area around the town became a major hub for related industries like coal mining, brickmaking, the iron industry, and the metal trades [including] nail making, spring manufacturing, and gun making. As the 20th century began, the industries of engineering, manufacturing, and the automobile became the backbone of the town’s economy. West Bromwich was bombed by the Nazi Luftwaffe during World War II. Recessions in the mid-1970s, early 1980s, and late 2000s all dealt severe blows.
