About Carluke

Carluke, is a town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, located 4 miles (6.4 kilometers) northwest of Lanark and 4 miles (6.4 kilometers) southeast of Wishaw.

Carluke is mostly a commuter town with a wide selection of convenience stores and supermarkets. Carluke provides a variety of goods and services to the nearby communities of Braidwood, Forth, Kilncadzow, and Law.

With around 13,000 residents, Carluke is Clydesdale’s largest city. Located in the center of Lanarkshire’s fruit-growing region, it stands on a high plateau overlooking the River Clyde.

The town’s recent housing boom can be attributed in large part to its convenient train connection to Glasgow, as well as to the town’s main shopping center. Completed in 2006, the town center’s new design has a more aesthetically pleasing shopping area. Renshaw Scott, a jam manufacturer that has expanded to include a chocolate refinery, is one of Carluke’s greatest jobs because of its proximity to the Clydesdale’s major fruit growers.

Two of Carluke’s most illustrious natives have memorials dedicated to them as part of the town’s 2006 Streetscape Project, which revitalized the area around the town square.

There are now five primary schools in the area, all of which are undergoing renovations or reconstruction: Carluke Primary, High Mill Primary, Kirkton Primary, Crawforddyke Primary, and St Athanasius Primary. Carluke High School, which also serves Law village, Braidwood, and Forth, is the area’s secondary school provider. Carluke High School was also rebuilt at its current location, and the last of the reconstructed schools, Kirkton Primary, was finished in 2014. The town of Carluke is home to Braidwood Primary School.

Victoria Park Special School, supported by the government, is also located in Carluke. Students with exceptional needs from the ages of three to eighteen can attend this school, and it serves the entire South Lanarkshire Council.
