About Mansfield

A market town and district administrative hub in Nottinghamshire, England, Mansfield is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. It dominates the surrounding Mansfield Urban Area as the major municipality (followed by Sutton-in-Ashfield).  In 1227, it was granted the privilege of operating as a market town by the British Crown. Location: Around 12 miles (19 km) north of Nottingham, in the Maun Valley. There were 106,556 people living there.  Only the city of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire has a mayor who is directly elected by the residents.

To describe Mansfield’s climate, the Köppen classification system uses the term “temperate oceanic,” or Cfb. This is a climate characterized by a relatively little annual temperature variation, relatively consistent precipitation, relatively little sunshine, and frequent wind. The closest weather station to Mansfield is in Warsop, which is located in Meden Vale seven miles to the north.

In August of 1990, a temperature of 34.6 °C (94.3 °F) was recorded as the highest ever in the region.nThe average annual high temperature should be around 28.9 °C (84.0 °F), with 12.72 days being at or above 25.1 °C (77.2 °F).
